ALASITA - Wishes in Miniature

Once a year, La Paz fills with miniature houses, businesses, money, diplomas, food and countless other versions of the things people hope to achieve.

During this seasonal experience, we explore the Alasita Fair through its artisans, miniatures, food, humour and games — and you choose one symbolic miniature of your own to take home.

Small groups · Food & miniature included · Seasonal experience 24 January–20 February 2027 · Daily at 5:30 PM · $21

This is more than a miniature fair.

Alasita is a place where hopes, plans and everyday aspirations appear in miniature.

People look for small versions of the things they would like to achieve or improve in their lives: a home, a business, studies, travel, money, family or something entirely personal.

During the experience, we explore how those wishes are represented, who makes the miniatures and how the fair has become part of life in La Paz each year.

The Alasita Fair

What would you choose if one of your goals had to fit in your hand?

Alasitas La Paz

Choose Your Miniature

Inside the fair, entire versions of everyday life appear in miniature: houses, shops, money, certificates, food, building materials and much more. The objects change over time because people's aspirations change too.

Ekeko

The Ekeko is one of the figures most closely associated with Alasita. He is usually shown carrying miniature goods and objects connected with abundance and prosperity.

Taste the Fair

Api + Pastel A warm purple-corn drink with cinnamon and spices, served with a fried cheese-filled pastry. And choose between: Anticucho Grilled beef heart with potato and its peanut-based accompaniment. or Huminta — vegetarian option Fresh corn and cheese, prepared in a corn husk.

The Games

Because Alasita is also an afternoon out. Each guest chooses one simple traditional fair game to play. The point is to experience another part of what brings families and friends back to the fair year after year.

Ending with the wish, not the souvenir

What matters is understanding why, every January, people in La Paz continue to turn hopes and plans into something small enough to carry home.

RESPONSIBLE LOCAL TOURISM

Participate Without Turning Belief into a Show

Alasita is a living celebration, not an activity created for visitors.

We buy directly from local artisans and food vendors.

We don't tell you that you have to believe for the experience to have meaning.

And we don't reduce Andean ritual practice to “magic”.

You can participate with curiosity while still understanding that the beliefs belong to the people who practise them.
